Tour Plan
1. Pickup from the Hotel: The tour begins with a comfortable transfer from your hotel, where your guide will provide an introduction to the day’s itinerary.
2. Gobustan National Park: The first stop is Gobustan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient rock carvings and archaeological significance.
Rock Art Museum: Explore the open-air museum, home to over 6,000 petroglyphs, dating back 5,000-40,000 years. These carvings depict scenes of hunting, rituals, and daily life from prehistoric times.
Mud Volcanoes: Gobustan is also famous for its mud volcanoes. Azerbaijan has the highest number of mud volcanoes in the world, and you’ll have the chance to see these unique natural phenomena up close.
3. Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Azerbaijani lunch at a local restaurant, where you can try authentic national dishes.
4. Yanar Dag (Burning Mountain): Next, visit Yanar Dag, or “Burning Mountain.” This natural gas fire has been burning continuously on the hillside for centuries. It’s a striking sight and offers a glimpse into Azerbaijan’s nickname as the “Land of Fire.”
5. Ramana Tower (Optional): For those interested in more historical architecture, there is an optional stop at the Ramana Tower, a medieval stone structure offering insight into the region’s defense architecture.
6. Absheron Peninsula – Fire Temple “Ateshgah”: The tour continues to the Absheron Peninsula, with a visit to the ancient Ateshgah Fire Temple. This historical site was once a place of worship for Zoroastrians, Hindus, and Sikhs due to its natural gas-fueled eternal flame.
